Thanks to popular demand, TechHelp will offer a Public Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) Workshop series in four areas of Idaho beginning in August of 2015.  Each LSSGB workshop series will include four full-day training sessions. There will be three weeks between sessions for project work to be completed. This project work is a key part of the LSSGB program.

About the Course

  • Participants will learn the principles of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma Green Belt using the DMAIC process.
  • Experienced Lean Six Sigma practitioners will teach the classes and support participants in their project work.
  • The course material, simulations, and exercises will be relevant to manufacturing including the food and dairy processing industry.Lean Six Sigma Course Summer 2015
  • The program will be a combination of classroom learning and project work.
  • The project work will allow the participant to apply what they learn to an actual project in their organization.
  • There will be four, one-day, classroom sessions with two to four weeks between to allow participants to apply what they have learned. Homework will be assigned that will encourage participants to apply what they have learned to their projects.
  • The instructors will be available via phone or email to support participants with their projects.
  • Upon completion of the classroom sessions and project work, the participants will receive a certificate from Boise State University.

Curriculum

  • LSSGB Day 1 Class Session: Students will have the opportunity to be introduced to the Six Sigma & Lean concepts. Defining Waste, 5S, etc will allow for a successful homework project.
  • LSSGB Day 2 Class Session: Students will learn: Average and Standard Deviation, Common vs Special cause variation, Run, Line, and Control Charts, How to use SPC charts to psi sliderdetermine stability, How to use Histograms with upper and lower spec limits to determine Capability, How to use QI macros software to make this all easy, How to use this in your workplace to understand process performance.
  • LSSGB Day 3 Class Session: Students will have the opportunity to discuss their own problem solving and root cause analysis experience; where they will have the chance to give each other feedback and advice on alternative methods. We will also discuss common problems that are often encountered when collecting and analyzing data; and provide methods to avoid or minimize these problems. The students will get an introduction to basic statistical analysis tools, and we will use in class exercises to practice using these tools on sample data. The class uses the QI Macros addition to MS Excel for the data analysis exercises.
  • LSSGB Day 4 Session: Students will learn Project Management, Team Dynamics, Advanced LEAN Tools – Improve/Control Phase. What is Kaizen?,Solving the right problems – project planning and prioritizing, Revisit the House of Lean, Review the Lean Foundation tools – 5S, Visual Workplace and Standard Work, Kanbans and Two Bin Systems, Quality at the Source and Mistake Proofing, Leadership in a team environment – Coaching Kata, Norms for team members. Students will then do a Project presentation based on their selected project. Finally there will be a course evaluation and then certificates will be provided for completed class & project work.

Fee: $1250/person covers all sessions, training materials, project support, venues, & food. Two or more people registering from the same company at the same time will receive a discount of 10%. Members of ASQ are eligible for an additional 10% discount if they enter the discount code of ASQ during checkout.

Registrants who cancel 7 or more business days prior to the workshop will receive a full refund. Registrants who cancel less than 7 business days prior to the workshop will be charged a minimum of 50% of the workshop fee. No show will be charged the full workshop fee.
