Thanks to the Southwest Idaho Manufacturers’ Alliance (SWI-MA), for kicking off a month of MFG DAY activities with the “Made Here!” Manufacturing Expo and Job Fair at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa on October 3-4. A VIP Reception on the evening of October 3 was followed by a day-long Manufacturing Expo on October 4 that showcased products MADE HERE in Idaho. SWIMA filled the Ford Idaho Center with an amazing assortment of displays including:
- Western Trailers attached a beasty flat bed trailer carrying a massive amount of recyclables to a United Metals tractor
- Stem Bus USA Interactive Exhibit
- The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) Mobile Cheesemaking Lab
- CSI Ice Cream Dispenser
- Tiny Idahomes
This year’s Expo built on SWIMA’s 2016 event that had 30 exhibitors and more than 500 attendees, including over 350 students.
- 60+ Exhibitors
- 800+ attendees (including 600+ students)
- Job Fair
The first Friday of October (Oct 6 this year) is set aside for National Manufacturing Day; a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Throughout October, local manufacturers are encouraged to host public tours and events to highlight the variety of opportunity within the manufacturing industry. The map at right shows MFG Day 2017 events taking place around the nation. You can add your event to the map or find an event near you at www.mfgday.com.
Manufacturing Day℠ is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Traditionally, Manufacturing Day occurs on the first Friday in October. While Manufacturing Day is officially October 6 in 2017, companies and community organizations are free to host an event on any day in October that works best for them. In Idaho, we like to spread events out around the state and the calendar.
No matter the date, events should be registered on the MFG DAY site and can be marked as public or invitation-only events.
Registered event hosts have access to free event planning and execution resources and toolkits to make planning a Manufacturing Day event easy!
