Above, NPD Lab Manager, Blake Pachner (Center), of TechHelp and Boise State provides a Lab tour to a group from Sakae Casting Co., LTD and Salefull USA, Inc. of Japan.
The TechHelp Team at the New Product Development Lab on the fourth floor of Boise State’s College of Engineering quietly provided design and prototyping services to inventors and entrepreneurs nearly 15 years. In January of 2015, the President of the United States stopped in for a visit and put the Lab on the map. Since then, a steady stream of visitors from the U.S. and beyond have trekked to the fourth floor to discover what drew a President to such a secret location. What visitors find at the Lab is a unique team of mechanical engineering professionals and students using state of the art tools to help inventors assess, design and develop new product ideas.
The TechHelp NPD Team follows a “You Guide, We’ll Drive” model of doing business with clients who are invited to sit with NPD specialists and guide the product design process.
“You Guide, We’ll Drive” summarizes how the lab works with clients. Clients are invited to sit with and guide lab staff during product design and prototyping activities. Pairing the vision and passion of the inventor with the skills, tools, experience and perspective of lab staff is a powerful combination that has resulted in a steady stream of successful product launches.
